GORE HEALTH LTD BOARDOur Gore Health board consists of locally appointed members and is responsible for the management of Gore Hospital and delivery of health services.

Medical OfficersWe currently employ five fulltime/part-time Medical Officers who provide 24 hour cover in our inpatient area and Emergency Department. They are Dr John Grant, Dr Victor Kovarski, Dr Paul Trotman, Dr Nic Kagan and Dr Paul Trowbridge. Our Medical Officers work a 8.00am to 5.00pm shift and provide on-call services 5.00pm to 8.00am.
Medical students from the Otago University School of Medicine in Dunedin also spend time at Gore Hospital during the year as part of their Rural Immersion Programme undergraduate clinical training in a rural setting.
Nursing & MidwiferyDelwyn Soper is our Nursing Manager and Liz Greene is our Maternity Co-ordinator. We have around 40 part-time/casual staff in our Nursing team which consists of both Registered and Enrolled Nurses who work rotating 8 hour shifts.
We have a small maternity team comprising Registered and Enrolled Nurses who have upskilled in this area and they are supported by our local LMC Midwives, Cheryl Cavanagh, Heather Hetaraka, Khrystina Prattley and Natasha Baillie. Staff in our maternity area work 12 hour rotating shifts.
Allied Health & Community ServicesOur Allied Health & Community Services team is led by Judy Geary and Dee Coyle is our Allied Health Assistant. The team consists of: District Nursing We have eight part-time District Nurses (Registered & Enrolled) who work on a shift roster covering our community patients seven days a week. They are Stacey Young, Anne Murrell, Maree Turnbull, Jeanette Kelly, Amy Ritchie, Sonia Richardson, Rachel Goatley and Susan Clutterbuck. Physiotherapy Emma O'Dwyer is our physiotherapist, providing inpatient and community physiotherapy services. Occupational Therapy Jolene Young heads our Occupational Therapy team and is assisted by Katie McKenzie on a part-time basis. Social Work: Lewis Marshall is our Social Worker, providing social work services on a part-time basis. Needs Assessment Natalie Henderson (RN) is our Needs Assessor working on a part-time basis. Dietitics Jenny Walker is our Dietitican and works on a part-time basis. Speech Language Therapy We contract Meryl Jones to provide speech language therapy services on a part-time basis.
Gore Health Centre - GP PracticeRhonda Reid, Business Manager, oversees the running of our GP Practice. The practice is open 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and is staffed by: General Practitioners: Dr Claire McAlinden, Dr Bob Basta, Dr Zhiling Trowbridge Receptionists: Carol Graham, Lisamarie Harvey Practice Nurses: Keri Young, Rebecca Gutschlag, Erica Rae, Janice McGuigan
Quality AssuranceOur Quality Assurance team consists of Delwyn Soper (Manager), Glenda Maxwell (QA Co-ordinator) and Claire Whitten (Training & Development Officer). Together they are responsible for ensuring we provide a service that complies with the necessary standards, codes, regulations and contracts, including Ministry of Health certification to Health & Disability Sector Standards and Baby Friendly Certification to the New Zealand Breastfeeding Authority standards.
AdministrationClaire Whitten and Fiona Marsh head our administration team. We have ten fulltime/part-time/casual staff who work in administration, and cover our reception areas, outpatient clinics, payroll and accounts, clinical coding, district nursing, medical records and ACC duties. Our main reception area is open Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm and Saturday/Sunday 9.30am to 6.00pm.
Laboratory and RadiologyWe contract Otago Radiology to provide Radiology services and Southern Community Laboratories to provide laboratory diagnostic testing at Gore Hospital. Glenda Rees, Kate Cross and Vicki Crump make up the Otago Radiology team and Donna Baynes and Heather Kerr are the laboratory technicans who work for Southern Community Laboratories.
Housekeeping/MaintenanceWe employ eight fulltime/part-time/casual staff to provide cleaning services at Gore Hospital and Gus Burns is our maintenance person who works on a part-time basis. |
