X-ray services at Gore Hospital are provided by Otago Radiology, a private diagnostic radiology practice, whose main branch is based at the Marinoto clinic in Dunedin.

Our X-ray department is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday and for after hours/weekends there is an on-call service.  Referrals to the x-ray department are made through our Emergency Department, a GP or Specialist and an appointment is necessary.

All x-ray examinations are performed by registered MRT's (radiographers) using the CR/PACS Digital system.  Images are relayed electronically to the Dunedin branch where they are read by qualified Radiologists.  Results are then issued from Dunedin directly to the doctor who has requested the x-ray.

The majority of x-ray examinations are free as they are funded by the Southern District Health Board.  However, there are certain circumstances when a charge for an x-ray will be necessary.  You will be informed of this prior to your x-ray and given an invoice when you leave.  Payment is not usually required at the time of your examination unless it is for immigration purposes (in this case cash or a cheque payment is required when you have your x-ray).
