Bernadette Hunt

Bernadette has been farming at Chatton with her husband Alistair since January 2007 when they moved to the District from the North Island.  As well as being heavily involved in their farming business, Bernadette has a varied career history, including roles in television production, IT, primary school teaching, Parliamentary Service and most recently on social capacity projects for Gore District Council and Community Networking Trust.   Bernadette has also had extensive community involvement, most notably through her volunteer roles in Gore Parents Centre, the Gore Kids Hub and Federated Farmers.

The vital nature of Gore District’s health services has become more and more obvious to Bernadette during her time living here, which is why she is keen to be involved.

Bernadette and Alistair have two daughters, and in any spare time she enjoys getting out in her vege garden and supporting her kids in their various activities.
