We are a rural community owned, 20 bed primary care facility, providing an integrated range of health services to the Eastern Southland community and surrounding areas. These services include inpatient and 24 hour Emergency Department Services, Maternity Services, a GP Practice, Dental Practice and Allied and Community Health Services. Located at Gore, 65 km northeast of Invercargill in the lower South Island of New Zealand, we provide health services to a population base of around 21,000 people. Gore Hospital is 45 minutes drive away from our base hospital in Invercargill.
Gore Health Ltd is the company responsible for managing the operation of our hospital and employs around one hundred and fifteen staff.
Gore is the service centre for a large rural farming area and close to the beautiful Southern Lakes area - the adventure capital of New Zealand. We are also only an hour away from the sea and the attractions of the southern coast and Stewart Island. Our local river, the Mataura, has the reputation of being the best brown trout fishing river in the world. Our environment is clean, green, safe and family-friendly and we have a leisurely affordable lifestyle.
