Physician Associate recruitment company up and running

Gore Health is continuing to lead the way in health innovation, setting up PA Jobs NZ as part of ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare.

Gore Health CEO Karl Metzler said while it was still early days, the physician associate recruitment company was already performing well, and as expected, there were more applicants than there were jobs - for now.

In February 2025, the Government decided to regulate physician associates in what Karl described as a watershed moment for the New Zealand health sector. A year on and the profession is progressing towards being officially added to the medical workforce in NZ, with consultation from the Medical Council of NZ currently happening and full regulation and scopes of practice expected to be wrapped up by October 2026.

“This will give employers an idea of where they stand with PAs and we can expect a rise in demand for their services,” he said.

PA Jobs NZ’s goal is to ensure that each PA placement is a strong fit for both the candidate and the health facility.
